Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event on Monday

We will be offering a household hazardous waste drop-off event for residents at Hatch Hill on Monday, September 15, from 9 am to 12 pm. This event is being done to provide residents with another opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and other items, instead of throwing these items out with their regular trash. Hazardous chemicals, along with batteries and electronic waste, cause pollution, fires, can damage the landfills mechanical systems (for example, the gas collection system) and can injure residents and our workers if they are not handled correctly. With the number of homes changing ownership due to a strong housing market and people moving out of homes where they have lived for decades, we have seen an increase in items that require special handling being disposed of improperly in the residential trash. This has resulted in more landfill fires, and this is a nationwide trend.
