Board of Assessment Review
Board of Assessment Review is a board consisting of five members (serving three-year terms and appointed by the Mayor) that conduct hearings regarding tax assessments. A taxpayer who requested a tax abatement and the request was denied or deemed denied by the Assessor, could then file an appeal to the Board. Hearings are held on an as-needed basis. The Assessor and the taxpayer appealing their assessment will attend the hearing to present evidence supporting their opinion of value. There is currently two (2) vacant positions.
