Airport Maintenance Supervisor

Due to an upcoming retirement, the City of Augusta is currently seeking an Airport Maintenance Supervisor to manage, coordinate, oversee, and participate in airport operations and maintenance at the Augusta State Airport, which is owned by the State of Maine and managed by the City of Augusta. This is a responsible technical and supervisory position responsible for all aspects of the maintenance of airport facilities and infrastructure, including performing, coordinating, and overseeing daily airport maintenance and airfield operations. M-F, nights and weekends as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the Airport Manager. Requirements Minimum of HS diploma, or equivalent, and 1+ years of course work toward a college degree or technical certificate required, preferably in aviation. Must have a valid Maine Class B license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience in the operation and/or maintenance of an airport facility and prior supervisory experience. Any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Candidates must reside within a 30-minute response time of the airport facility and have the ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and random tests as prescribed by FHWA rules and the City of Augusta Alcohol and Drug Policy. Any security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
Compensation & Benefits This full-time (40 hrs) non-exempt hourly position is eligible for a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, and paid time off. The pay range for General Government Range 15 positions is $50,481 to $64,438 per year depending on experience, qualifications, and budget availability. The City contributes 80-84.5% of the premium cost for health, dental, and vision plans depending on coverage level. The City also provides a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help cover the cost of the health plan deductible. Individuals covered by an alternative equivalent health plan are eligible for an annual medical buyout in lieu of coverage (currently $2,400 - $3,600 based on coverage eligibility) and employees who choose the Pemaquid Health Plan are eligible to receive a 2.75% increase in base wages. The City of Augusta participates in the MainePERS Plan AC, which is a defined benefit retirement plan. Employees do not pay into Social Security. Employees earn paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays per year and have access to participate in medical and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, short-term disability, 457(b) retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and more.
