Western Avenue Bridge Project

This project is part of the MaineDOT efforts to replace the Western Avenue bridge over I-95. Temporary rerouting and closures are necessary to prepare for the opening of the new temporary bridge in early December.

Friday, October 25

  • Whitten Road Connector Opens
  • This temporary connector will help re-route traffic while the new bridge is under construction.

Monday, October 28

  • Exit 109 On-Ramp Closures (Northbound & Southbound)

Alternate Routes

  • For Eastbound Traffic:
  • Continue on Western Avenue, turn at Meadow/Fuller Roads, and access the interstate from the westbound side.
  • Truck Route: Use Senator Way & Crossing Way (past Target) to reach the westbound ramp.
  • For Southbound Traffic: I-95 access is available via the Whitten Road Connector.

Monday, November 18

  • Exit 109B Closure (Southbound Ramp) for approximately 30 days. Use Exit 109A during this period.
