AUGUSTA, ME – The City of Augusta is pleased to announce the appointment of William "Bill" Post as the new Assistant City Manager, effective Monday, July 1, 2024. Bill brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of public administration, honed over an impressive 28-year career in municipal and county government operations.
Bill is an accomplished local government professional with a robust portfolio that includes management, finance, human resources, public works, public safety, and community service. His expertise extends to project management, policy development, organizational improvement, labor and contract relations, and employee training.
Throughout his career, Bill has served as a municipal manager in Bowdoinham, Rockport, and Waldoboro, and as a county administrator for both Sagadahoc and Knox Counties. Most recently, since 2022, he has held the role of Assistant City Manager of Waterville, during which he also served as Acting City Manager from January to July 2023.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Maine. He is an active member of several professional associations and currently serves on the Maine Town, City, and County Management Association's Board of Directors, where he chairs the Communications Committee.
