Child Safety Seat Inspections

The Augusta Police Department has partnered with the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety to train certain member(s) of our staff as Safety Seat Technicians to assist with answering questions about child passenger safety (CPS) and also to assist with properly installing a child safety seat. Qualified police officers attended a 5 day child safety seat technician training course to become certified.  A CPS technician has to re-certify every two years. To maintain their certification, the technician needs to be up to date on child safety seat changes, updates, and recalls. The technician does this by attending training and child safety seat events.

If you've ever wondered if your child's car seat was installed property or if you have just a basic question you've come to the right place. Please call to make an appointment or complete the form below and one of the officers will contact you.
