Age-Friendly Community Distinction

The City of Augusta is a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities which is an institutional affiliate of the World Health Organization's Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities & Communities.  Our citizens have formed an Age-Friendly Advisory Committee which has implemented many new programs in our community including; sand bucket delivery for qualified senior citizens (to help reduce winter-time falls and injuries from slippery walks and driveways), Clear Paths and Connected Community volunteer snow shoveling program, installation of benches at area shopping centers, teaching kids how to sew and much more!

If you are interested in learning more or volunteering feel free to come to a meeting!  The Age-Friendly Advisory Committee meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the City Center at 16 Coney Street in the Learning Gallery, room number 145 (first floor).
