Financial Aid

The City of Augusta Childcare Bureau is a self-supporting program and does NOT have the ability to offer financial aide.

Financial assistance is available by the State of Maine, Department of Health and Human Services. 

Step 1
Apply for Child Care Subsidy in one of the following ways:

  • At local DHHS office (Office of Family Independence-OFI)
  • Online at www.maine.gov/MyMaineConnection
  • Once you are determined to be financially eligible, proceed to step 2

 

Step 2 
  • Complete the Child Care Subsidy Program Application (you can get this from OFI or OCFS) and return it to the Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS):

  • Once you are determined to be program eligible, and the provider you choose is approved, payments will be made directly to your provider on your behalf.


Other sources of childcare Subsidy

DHHS/ASPIRE and TRANSITIONAL parents must bring in their childcare packet from the DHHS and complete the payment authorization release form allowing the payments to be directly deposited into the City of Augusta’s account. TRANSITIONAL parents must supply the amount of their parent co pay to the childcare office staff. Until verification of these benefits, Parents are responsible for paying the weekly child care fees.

Military subsidy programs are available through Childcare Aware of America. (1-800-424-2246)

If you are eligible for the program you will be given paperwork that the Childcare Bureau has to sign as the Provider of the Childcare Services.


Until the decision has been made for any subsidy parents are responsible for the full cost of childcare
