We're focusing on diverse housing opportunities.

Our community development staff is working aggressively to provide a variety of housing options for first time and non-first time homebuyers.

We're strengthening already-established neighborhoods, replete with history and in-town charm, with programs designed to rehabilitate vacant or dilapidated homes. We're working with developers to bring contemporary loft-style apartments, overlooking the scenic and recreational opportunities afforded by the majestic Kennebec River, to our revitalized downtown district.

We've got a demonstrated and unwavering commitment to providing housing options across all economic levels. Our cooperative partnerships with developers have resulted in affordable new homes for low and moderate income persons and the revitalization and renovation of our historic Old City Hall as a 31 unit senior housing facility.

New Neighbors - an innovative homeownership program offered by the City of Augusta in collaboration with the Maine State Housing Authority. The Program is designed to provide homebuyers with the chance to purchase and rehabilitate existing 1-4 unit properties located in Augusta's downtown district. Qualified buyers will be eligible to finance up to 100% of purchase price plus rehabilitation costs at below market rates.
